NEW PICTURE 11/15/06

Here is Athena's day: up at 5:00 a.m for her first walk. Breakfast and a nap
until I get back from the gym. She is always there to greet me when I come back
from the gym! By the time we are ready to leave she gets her second walk at
8:30. A small treatie to hold her over until Barbe is home from work at 4:30.
Even though she spends 4 of her days alone, she doesn't seem to mind. She has
3 bed choices (no I'm not kidding!). She has a full-size bed (mine) on the
third floor where I leave the blinds open and the tv on. She has her doggie bed
in the hallway right in front of a window. She seems to like that one best
because she can "spy" on the entire neighborhood from there! She has a third
bed in the kitchen where the back patio door is open for her to spy on the back
door neighbors. Her water bowl is there as well. Once Barbe is home she goes
for her third walk of the day and then dinner. By the time I get home she is so
happy to have had quality time with Barbe she hardly notices I am around! I
take her out for her 4th walk of the day before bed. Her
eating/sleeping/business habits are all great. She continues on her glucosimine
and seems good with her bad leg. She did have those lovely hook worms but we
took her over to the vet on Saturday, the day after she scooted for the first
time and seemed like something was bugging her.

Our vet is so great with her - and she is great with them. No fear or panic in
the vet office. She got all of her heart worm pills, flea meds and updated
shots as long as we were there.

We worked with a trainer for a few weeks who taught us some great techniques for
building trust. She now has no problems looking us in the eye and listening to
us when we walk. Strangers are greeted with loud barking but that's about it.
We can't wait until May when we will start back down at the shore each weekend.
Perhaps some Friday night we can swing by and show her to you? I know you work
nights but aren't you at a retail store near your house? We can always stop at
the store...

Athena is a delight and treasure. She sits under my desk when I work at home on
Fridays and just snores away. The only thing about her that is weird is that
she whines the whole time she is in the car. No matter where we go she talks
and whines the whole time. Maybe she still associates the car with how she got
"lost" in the first place?

Athena is a real joy, we love her so much. Here is a picture of her in her bed in the kitchen.
